The residents of this building were Royal singers at Maharaj of Patiala, Maharaj Bhupinder Singh darbar in 1947. They migrated to Pakistan and settled here. It used to be a Hindu house, respecting their culture and the religion they preserved. They also preserved the monuments and the structure of the building. Just the wooden ceilings were changed into concrete lanterns. Even the floor tiles remain the same. One of the residents, Nawab Begum started performing at the Red light Area in 1970s.
In 1996 the ground floor of the building was used as a ‘baitakh’ where various artists and musicians such as Tafu brothers, Mohsin Raza , Amanat Ali Khan, Fateh Ali Khan, Ghulam Ali Khan and Madam Noor Jahan used to rehearse and perform here .
In 1996 they decided to open a fast-food point by the name of Cooco’s Den but it did not work out and they decided to convert it into a traditional Pakistani cuisine. Vegetables and curries were made at home by their grandma, Nawab Begum and they set a tandoor for fresh roti and naan. Soon the restaurant got recognised and after some years it turned into a successful story. The ground floor used to be packed with customers seeing this they decided to place the sitting on the rooftop of the building. They are the pioneers of the roof top restaurants in Lahore. It was an ideal sitting and gave a breath taking view of the Badshahi Masjid, Shahi Qila and Minare Pakistan. People from different cultures and countries used to come here to enjoy the food and atmosphere. It became even more successful when the President visited the restaurant and famous personalities like Imran Khan, Waseem Akram , Shahid Afridi, Malaika Arora, Urmila and many others have come to this historic place to enjoy the refreshing view of the city, Lahore.
